We’re delighted to say that we’ve got some exciting album news from Andrew, we’ve been sent an early version of the cover for Andrew’s new album ‘Beautiful Moment’…
Andrew will be performing live at World Hunger Day 2013 – the event is going unplugged for the first time in a series of up close and personal live music sessions dedicated to Jazz, Soul, RnB and Gospel music in the heart of London’s Soho
Other performers include Joe McElderry, Anthony Strong, Barb Jungr, Jumoké Fashola, London Community Gospel Choir, Mari Wilson, Omar, Randolph Matthews and Tammy Weis.
Talking about the concert Andrew said:
“With Jazz in the very heart and soul of my musical craft, I can’t think of a better time and place to showcase the journey of my 25 year career and what better cause than to step up myself for the end of Hunger and Poverty. I am sure all my fellow artists for this special concert season are as happy as I am to donate our collective talents in order that others have the opportunity to build a brighter future for themselves. This effort is all about partnership and success can be achieved and in our lifetime. As I’ve sung so many times, ‘Get ready…get ready for the dawning…”
After The Hunger Project UK’s successes of two sell-out concerts at the Apollo Victoria and the Royal Albert Hall in 2011 and 2012 respectively, this year’s World Hunger Day events move to an equally iconic venue – PizzaExpress Jazz Club in Soho, which was redesigned in April and now features artwork celebrating its jazz roots. Since 1969, PizzaExpress Jazz Club has welcomed on its stage some of the world’s greatest musicians including Ella Fitzgerald and Amy Winehouse.
This year, World Hunger Day 2013 falls on 28th May 2013 and will be celebrated throughout the extended May Bank Holiday weekend with six exciting shows (26th and 28th May 2013 inclusive). The entire weekend will be hosted by Award-winning Broadcaster, Journalist, Singer and Actress, Jumoké Fashola.
Since finishing gigging last year and taking a short break we’re delighted to say Andrew has headed straight back in the studio to work on the follow up to Addictive.
That got us thinking about the sort of album we’d love to hear Andrew make and so we thought we’d open up the question – so please tell us:
- What’s your favourite Roachford sing ever?
- How would the album you’d like Roachford to create next sound?
The gig that was scheduled to happen in September and then moved to 7th December in Leigh is cancelled due to issues with the venue.
If you have purchased tickets please approach the point of purchase for a refund.
Apologies for this, it’s out of our direct control – we’ll look for another venue in the area for a tour date in future.
Andrew will be playing a private show for listeners of Superfly FM in Vienna on 18th October.
To have a chance of winning tickets visit the Superfly FM website for more information.
Roachford will be performing with his band at an open-air show in Göttingen as part of their Summer of Culture.
Andrew is playing live at the Isle of Wight festival tomorrow but if you can’t be there we’ve also added a new London date in December and there are several shows in the UK and Europe during September, October and November. The gigs page has all of the latest information.
Thank you to everyone that’s made it to gigs over the past few months. The comments and suggestion on the website are really appreciated.
It was great to finally return to Glasgow!
Now we’ve had a lot of suggestions we’ve added a poll with some of the ones most commonly requested.
It’s always good to kick off the year making plans and so that’s exactly what we’re going to help Andrew’s management do…
Plans are afoot for a new UK tour before too long, but we’ve noticed that every time there’s a tour there are calls to add extra towns or cities.
So this article is your opportunity to add comments with where you think the next UK tour should head – over to you….
Andrew has sent in this message to everyone who has made it to the Addictive tour so far…
The tour now heads to Switzerland, Germany and Austria!
